1 LB chopped or minced beef (you decide real lean @ 93% or 80/20)
1/3 cup ketchup or salsa
1/2 cup breadcrumbs
Season amount to your taste: Thyme, Oregano, Cumin, Cayenne pepper (I ADD all four)
Pinch of salt & pepper
*Serves 4 (double recipe for 8)
Prep time 5 mins
Cook time 10 mins
In a medium-size bowl, add meat and break up into small pieces.
Crack in the egg, add breadcrumbs, ketchup or salsa, and seasonings to your taste.
I like to use my hands to mix all together. If you prefer, mix with a utensil, until you have one big ball of meat.
Break into four even pieces and pat out into a quarter-pound size.
Put on the grill or pan, and cook until all the redness is out of the meat.
Serve it up with fresh cheese, garden lettuce, and scallion. Mayo and spicy mustard WITH blue cheese to dress it up!
I have also served with a side of onions, tomato, and mushrooms lightly sauteed on a pan. I found if I put these on the actual burger it was a little too hard to handle.
NOW, ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS DIG IN...
